Sexism in the City
This is a very long article in the Times, but well worth a read if you are interested in the subject of gender differences in the workplace. Is the only way for women to be accepted to be just like the men? It would seem so. But I enjoyed the comments best, particularly this one:

“The city is a darwinian meritocracy. Consequently, the most successful are those that work hardest and make the most personal sacrifice over the longest period of time. It is not surprising that relatively fewer sensible women sign up to forfeit the bulk of their lives. The question is why so many men do. How odd that we should keep asking why more women don’t and envy men that do. We should celebrate women’s reluctance and offer men relationship counselling.”
Ultimately this is what Gender IQ is all about – a better world for all. Not just preserving the status quo. How many of the men working in this environment are really enjoying it? Or are a significant number of them trapped by the financial rewards, unable to give it up? What do you think?
